hmmmmm good intentions and all that
Guess there isn't much point having one of these unless I add something to it every so often - I think that point has now been proved. :-)
So just to kinda skip over what's happened..... been on a couple of planes, couple of cars, couple of trains, couple of piggy backs and now I have (renting obviously) a flat in Sydney
Just accepted a new job - going to be trained up as a Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing consultant - which sounds as much up it's own arse as all my old job titles, which is good :-)
Essentially I'll get trained up in Oracle & MS SQL server (for the data warehousing bits), Cognos and the applications that the company has already created (for the business intelligence bits) - Once I have the required skills and knowledge I'll be heading out to companies to help them create a better view of how their business is doing. To do this, for anyone that hasn't already decided it was better when I didn't update this, you present the company's data to them, in real time way, that allows them to see key trends (shown using KPI's defined by them plus other real time data) and other such stuff that serious business people can see meaning in.
I have no experience in this area, as my lame description has problem demonstrated. So they're taking a bit of a risk on me - which is a bonus - reckon I should pick it up fairly quickly though.
Anyway that's probably more than enough technobabble about what I'm gonna be doing.
